You Like Me! You Really, Really Like Me. Really?

The need to be liked.

"Nobody is universally liked, largely for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with them. You are going to be liked by some, loved by others, criticize11. The need to be liked.  Nobody is universally liked, largely for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with them. You are going to be liked by some, loved by others, criticized by a handful, and disliked by a few basically regardless of what you choose to do with your life. Therefore, it makes the most sense to do what you want regardless of how other people will respond."  Briann Wiest

Do not think more highly of yourself than you should!

We have lived for decades now being told to make everything about ME, in all capital letters!

Kids thinking that their parent's life revolved around nothing more than making the child happy.

We begin to think that everything should revolve around ME being happy because I am the center of all things!

The results - we have become so shallow and so superficial that we live for confirmation from others about whom we perceive ourselves to be!

The need to be liked to be affirmed of whom we believe ourselves to be based on a false self-concept only sets us up for disaster.

Add to that the pervasiveness and power of social media where people do everything they can to impress others so they can get a like, a heart or a share!
This seems to be especially true of the 13-24-year-olds. Many experts believe that social media is a major contributor to the rising rates of depression and suicide among our teenagers!

When your whole world is built on a fake identity based on how popular you are on social media and you aren’t getting as many likes, hearts or shares as someone else your world comes crashing down!

If my value is based on what others perceive my value to be I have set myself up for a depressed existence!

My Value;
Is given to me by the God of the Bible.
Comes from loving others as I love myself
To be great you must become as a servant.

The marketplace rewards me for the value I provide in the service of others.

If I see a problem and can provide a solution my value goes up. Zig Ziglar says it like this, “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.”

Don’t let what others think of you determine your path in life or how high the mountain you will climb!

You are of infinitely greater value than you can comprehend! And so, are those around you! We are all of equal value in the eyes of our Creator!

Now, Go - Grow - Serve! Provide a great value in the marketplace! Lift someone up today!
